Munich

After Dachau. I went to Munich and checked into the hotel. Munich was much happier. It did start to rain (finally) right when I got off the train, but really just a drizzle. Not enough to stop me from walking to the city center in search of food and beer to calm my nerves.

The biggest church in town. Can you guess what its name is? Frauenkirche! Notre Dame. Church of Our Lady. One in every town, I swear. Unfortunately for me, it was under restoration at the time, so I could only get a picture of one of its towers.

There is a dragon on the Rathaus.

Toy Museum

St. Peter's Church

Weisses Brauhaus, where I had dinner. A lot less crowded than Hofbrauhuas, with plenty of tasty wheat beers, and a cool atmosphere as well.

Old Rathaus

The pole that marks the Viktualienmarkt, a large open air market.

Gaertnerplatz

River Isar

Isartor, one of three towers in the city

There were several musicians putting on surprise concerts. These guys did a lot of acoustic covers of American songs. Pretty cool.

After dinner beer at Augustiner. The Hefeweizen was only average, but the service was fantastic!

The nextday I did some more sighstseeing further out from the city center.

These statues are outside the hunting and fishing museum. Because they have one.

Ratskeller. I later ate lunch here.

Then I went to the English Garden, a large park. As usual, I only had time to explore a small corner of the park, but it was really pretty.

This is the Maximillianeum, the Bavarian State Building.

View from the bridge outside of the Maximillianeum.

OMG, is that a fish ladder? Awesome!

Big statue on the bridge

Then I caught the metro to rush back to the Rathaus for the 12pm Glockenspiel show (where the figures in the clock move around while the bells play music). It was pretty cool, but not cool enough that you should feel bad if you don't make one of the three daily shows. I took a video, but it didn't turn out very well. But if you really want to see it, I will send it to you.

Is it just me or is one of those gargoyles a monkey?

this guy could play some mean water glasses

I always seem to waste time trying to find something or get to something far away. This time, it was Nymphenburg Palace. It took so long to get there, I didn't have time to go in. But I did get a nice picture of the outside.

And that is my trip to Munich! It was fun, it is a cool city.
